About the Artist

 Hi....I am Margaret Piscioneri. I am a woodcarver from Waterdown, Ontario, Canada. My passion is carving Santas. 

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in the Santa figure. As a little girl growing up in the tiny village of Wainfleet, I can remember drawing Santas.... in different poses and carrying different things. Christmas was always a big deal in our house. It was not so much for receiving presents ....I am from a large family and times were tough....but it was the tree, the nativity scene, the decorating, the cards and the idea of Santa. 

Fast forward to many years later, I was married and home with the kids and the fascination with the country look in decorating had taken hold. Trying my hand at woodwork, the love of the Santa figure started to dominate which led very quickly to the carved Santa statue or figurine. The first creations were simple but I found I was constantly looking for new challenges. This led to more detailed and creative pieces. My Santas have been featured in Country Sampler magazine and local papers. Thirty years have passed and it never gets dull.
